Position Summary:       The National Sales Manager is responsible for achieving and exceeding established sales quotas when selling the resort to potential and existing clients within the designated vertical markets for group meetings & events to include but not limited to group room revenue, group food & beverage, meeting space and special events.  Responsible to solicit new accounts and maintain & grow existing accounts.  The NSM have sole responsibility to manage every stage of the sales process: uncover potential accounts, proposal generation, conduct site visits, close contracts and maintain current & potential customer engagement through entertaining, sales presentations, phone calls and in-market sales calls.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication
  • Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the Resort, both orally and in written form to previous, current and potential clients
  • Handle account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented
  • Manage daily account maintenance on company/organization level, individual contact record and individual booking level with the designated CRM software, currently Delphi
  • Coordinate various departments’ participation in servicing accounts
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients
  • Prepare information for, meet with and entertain clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account
  • Communicate with different levels of management within corporate and association businesses
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to all departments in the hotel to ensure high quality of service to customers
  • Comply with attendance policies and be available to work as needed for evening and weekend functions
  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance
  • Participate in business review meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required
  • Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings
  • Travel to top producing markets within the U.S., Canada and Mexico to conduct in-market sales calls, presentations and cultivate new partnerships
  • Knowledge of market trends, competition and key customers of the hotel
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • 2+ years of past sales experience preferred
  • Prior experience in the field of hospitality a plus
  • Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Database programs
  • Knowledge of sales skills and revenue management
  • Knowledge of hotel features & benefits
  • Knowledge of competitive hotels & resorts and competing city markets a plus
  • Prior experience with the use of Delphi a plus
  • Ability to execute appropriate action plans
  • Must be a team player with a willingness to help co-workers
  • Leadership skills to manage self and motivate co-workers to ensure accomplishment of goals, both individual and team 
  • Able to set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate
  • Written and verbal communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, and clear
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and act independently with minimal or no supervision
  • Must adhere to The Scottsdale Plaza Resort Employee Handbook for conduct and appearance guidelines
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours at a time with allowable breaks
  • Walking and Standing are required to conduct site visits, participate at trade show booths and other marketing events
