Title: Security Officer

Reports To:   Security Manager/Director of Security

Classification:   Part Time - from 7am – 3pm, Saturday and Sunday only.


Position Summary:   Security Officers are responsible for the protection of hotel assets, guests, and employees.  Security Officers conduct and assist daily duties while maintaining a professional appearance and high visibility throughout the property. 


Responsibilities:     Duties encompass lengthy foot patrols of the property, emergency response to all medical needs, limited firefighting knowledge, access control, issuance of communication radios, keys, electronic access cards, and parking enforcement.  They assist other departments when needed, i.e., guest requests, etc.  The Security Department is also accountable for the repair of door locks and room safes, as well as maintaining comprehensive records and storage of Lost and Found items. Security Officers must be able to write reports for irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.


Minimum Job Requirements:   High school diploma or equivalent.  Must be able to communicate effectively, and have a helpful and friendly personality.   Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time and be able to climb up and down stairs.   Requires infrequent lifting and the ability to carry 1- 40 pounds.


These responsibilities must be able to be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.  While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to sit continuously to perform essential job functions throughout the entire shift. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods, throughout the day. Requires interacting with others, interpreting spoken messages, constant keyboarding, sitting, hearing and talking are required. The employee will occasionally stand and walk, and infrequent bending at the waist, twisting of the upper body, kneeling, being mobile on even surfaces, squeezing and crouching are also required. Requires infrequent lifting and carrying of 1-25 pounds.
