Title:                          Special Events Manager

Reports To:               VP Catering and Conference Services

Department:            Catering and Conference Services

Classification:          Hourly

Position Summary:

The Special Event Manager arranges and orders all special events for corporate groups for recreation, themed events, equipment rentals, linen rentals, floral rentals, entertainment, etc




  • From proposal stage to final billing-manage every aspect of the groups special events
  • Work very close with the Catering and Conference Services and Banquet department to not only order required requests but to follow up, adjust order as needed, and ensure each item ordered is here on time, & in the correct location
  • Create proposals
  • Negotiate and contract with vendors
  • Attending off property functions
  • Billing and invoicing
  • Maintain Vendor libraries and tariffs
  • Schedule vendor and off site visits


Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Self motivated, detail oriented
  • Creative mind
  • Sales experience
  • Must handle stress with ease
  • Posses a friendly, upbeat professional demeanor
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications and relevant computer applications required (Word, Excel, Delphi, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal require
  • This job sometimes requires long hours, and on occasion, evenings and weekends, depending on work deadlines and group demands

These responsibilities must be able to be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.  While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to sit continuously to perform essential job functions throughout the entire shift. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods, throughout the day. Requires interacting with others, interpreting spoken messages, constant keyboarding, sitting, hearing and talking are required. The employee will occasionally stand and walk, and infrequent bending at the waist, twisting of the upper body, kneeling, being mobile on even surfaces, squeezing and crouching are also required. Requires infrequent lifting and carrying of 1-25 pounds.
